Several people, including three minors, were wounded in a shooting at a school in Helsinki on Tuesday, according to Finnish police, who also said the apprehended suspect was a minor.
The shooting took place at the Viertola school in Vantaa, a suburb of the capital Helsinki, which has around 800 students from first to ninth grade and a staff of around 90.
Officers were called to the scene at 9:08 am, according to Eastern Uusimaa police.
The Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat said the suspect was caught in the Helsinki area later Tuesday.
Authorities asked people in the area to stay away from the school and to remain indoors while not letting in strangers.
The school, housed in two locations, also includes Swedish immersion groups, special education classes, and outpatient education.
